Foreign Missions

The call of the Gospel is to proclaim Christ to the ends of the earth. First Lutheran Church has a strong heritage of supporting foreign mission, especially in areas of the world which experience the challenges of poverty and disease.

First Lutheran Foundation is committed to outreach in the name of Jesus Christ and strives to compliment and support the foreign mission efforts of the congregation. On All Saints’ Sunday each year, the Foundation makes a gift of approximately $4,000 to the general foreign mission efforts of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Because of the Lord’s commission to reach out in his name, the Foundation would like to expand its support by providing significant funding to foreign mission projects endorsed by the congregation. Such support would, for example, add to the congregation’s current support of Dr. Mark Jacobson’s medical mission work at Selian Lutheran Hospital in Arusha, Tanzania, and the Salima Parish in Salima, Malawi, our companion congregation in Africa. Presently, there are no funds available for this specific support.

You are invited to direct donations and estate gifts to the Foreign Mission Fund to help First Lutheran Foundation meet its goal of increasing its annual contributions to foreign mission from $4,000 to $20,000.
