Currently, the Foundation provides general scholarship funds to First Lutheran Foundation hopes future gifts will allow this program to grow enabling the funding of as many Scholarships to ELCA Colleges and UniversitiesAs an incentive for students to consider attending the higher education institutions of the church, the Foundation hopes to provide additional assistance to qualified students enrolling in It is the goal of First Lutheran Foundation to support students with $1,500 per year in addition to the general scholarship award. This program is currently unfunded. Special Need ScholarshipsIt is intended for the expanded scholarship program to include provisions for additional funding for exceptional students with extraordinary need. No funds are currently available for this program. Seminary ScholarshipsThe Foundation provides full tuition support for any congregation member enrolled in an ELCA seminary for the purpose of entering ordained ministry. This support assists students who are lifted up by the congregation for pastoral leadership and benefits the whole church by training a pastor for the office of Word and Sacrament. Donations toward Seminary Scholarships will allow First Lutheran Foundation to fund more than one seminary student at once should there be multiple enrollments. Lay School of Ministry ScholarshipsThe Foundation fully funds tuition for those members of the congregation enrolled in the Lay School of Ministry, a two-year theological program of the NW Synod of Wisconsin. Members can request tuition support through the Congregation Council. Funding for Lay School tuition is limited. Therefore, donations would allow the First Lutheran Foundation to support more members of First Lutheran Church who wish to receive this advanced Christian education. Pastoral SabbaticalsThe Foundation has budgeted to help support sabbaticals for the clergy of First Lutheran Church. Sabbatical leaves renew our pastors by giving them time away from the rigors of leading the congregation for the purpose of study, rest, and travel. Presently, this fund is very small. Contributions would assist our clergy to enroll in special educational programs, travel abroad, and participate in specially designed programs of growth—all of which can be costly. |
