The nine-member Board of Directors operates with three standing committees of three members each:

• The Property Committee oversees activities of The
   Meadows at Otter Creek,
independent living facility for
   older adults, and the Foundation's other properties.

• The Finance Committee works with investment
   advisors, monitors investment policy and performance,
   and oversees the Foundation’s operating budget. This
   committee also recommends fund allocations to help
   ensure we stay within the guidelines established by
   donors and by the board.

• The Program Committee administers educational
   scholarships, the Parish Nurse ministry, the taxi ride
   program for the elderly, the Foundation newsletter,
   as well as evaluates new ministry possibilities. The
   committee also maintains our relationship with
   Gift Planning Services
, a firm that provides free
   financial advice and estate planning assistance for
   all members of the congregation.

The Foundation should never be perceived as under the management of a few select individuals. The more involvement there is from the church membership, the more the church has a vested interest in the Foundation itself. In accordance with these two principals, no member of First Lutheran can ever serve more than one six-year term on the Board of Directors.
